Honda S2000 Pt3 - Front End Tear Down - Bumpers, wings, decals
I have bought the most unloved Honda S2000 in the UK, if not the world, and it was defo worth saving. This series will cover first of all fixing the car; panel replacement, bodywork, clutch adjustment and even replacement, steering wheel reset, suspension, welding, bodywork, exhaust system, fluid changes, and of course modifications.
This is part three, removal of the front end, wings bumper and revealing hidden damage

    How about over filling the complete engine with thinners or similar to the brim? for a few days, then drain the sump out to the unit, remove all the spark plug Leeds and turn the engine over to blow the crap out of the oil rings and other holes. Then thoroughly flush out the engine and re-oil it and see if it runs well recommended amo... just a thought lol

    That foamy look to the fluid typically means there is air getting in the system somewhere. I don't think it should do that simply because the cap is off. I had an old Honda Pilot that did the same thing and had a bad whine to it and the fix was to replace some o-rings. I'm curious if that's possible on the Z32?

    • @ModorFix
      @ModorFix 2 місяці тому

      That was nearly 2 years ago and it works just like it should now. I think the air bubbles were introduced when I disconnected the pipe and released a load of the old fluid. When I put the new fluid in, no doubt it would have had some trapped air in there.

    Hello mate, thanks for posting this video. I've recently purchased a 300ZX Twin Turbo and really want some BOV's. The usual "forums" strongly advise against it due to the MAF, then I found GFB's website and went down a slight rabbit hole. Assuming you still have them, have you had any issues since the video? And do you know the difference between MACH 2's and their normal "universal" range?

    • @ModorFix
      @ModorFix 3 місяці тому

      The reason people advise against BOV's is because they usually vent to the atmosphere, creating that whoosh sound everyone knows and loves. However, that lovely air that is expelled causes a mis-match in the ecu as to what the MAF registered coming in, and what is actually in the system, this causes over fuelling. With a standard MAF in place, best to get this style of BOV which re-circulates the air. That's why I went for the GFB. The stock ones recirculate, however they get weak over time and can leak too.

    • @ModorFix
      @ModorFix 3 місяці тому

      To answer the second part of your question, I am not sure what you mean by "normal" range. However, the main thing I can think of is that the Mach 2 has adjustment on the tension of the spring. This allows the BOV to not open early and hence hold the boost for longer until it really needs to dump

    • @wishybishy
      @wishybishy 3 місяці тому

      I'm very grateful for your responses! What I meant by "normal" - on the GFB website, they have a "universal" BOV listed for the 300, as well as the MACH 2. So wasn't sure if you knew what the difference was as visually, the look the exact same.

    • @ModorFix
      @ModorFix 3 місяці тому

      Yes but it would be quite easy if you know what you are doing. Just tap in to the +/- wires on the existing socket

      Nope. They flash yellow. Thats all the MOT requires. And they are still going strong fyi.

      @@ModorFixThat's a great news. One of my repeaters died and I need to get a replacement. For £15 these are cheap as chips. Thank you, have a good one!

    Before doing this. Jack rear of car up. Check rear pads for wear. If worn, replace. Undo lower caliper bolt. Swing caliper up and wind brake piston in. Replace bolt in caliper and replace wheel. Repeat on other side. This helps to keep brake balance even.

    Hi . Could you send a link of the android stereo you have installed so I can buy same one ? As I have same car . Thanks

    • @ModorFix
      @ModorFix 7 місяців тому

      It's a cheap Chinese one of ebay and I really wouldn't recommend it. If you want a decent one get a Sony XAV AX3005DB. I have one of those in my Honda Civic Type R and its amazing! If you are kn a budget any 7inch unit should have similar wiring as long as it has the correct outputs

      @@ModorFix thank you . What's your bad thoughts on the Chinese ones ? I just need it for reverse camera mainly . Is the reverse camera usability good on the Chinese ones ? Thanks

    • @ModorFix
      @ModorFix 7 місяців тому

      @modoodle1851 it's perfectly fine for the reverse cam. Sound quality isn't great, you really have to crank it up to hear it, and the mic is useless (probably doesn't help that I have an aftermarket exhaust). Also it takes ages to boot up. If you buy a more modern version with plenty of RAM I'm sure it will be better than what I have. I mean mine is like 3 years old now and I bought it second hand for 20 quid lol!!!

    very helpful thanks - edit = that's the same set up as the Cube z12 kaizen 2010 (manual g/box) in the uk - only difference is that adjuster bolt is 13mm / no access thru the fog lamp though but ours was very easy to turn once the tensioner pulley bolt was loosened off

    Great vid. Might be a stupid question I couldn’t tell. Did you ground the black earth wire ? Some say you can do it to the car or to a negative. I heard you say you probably don't need to ground. Wondering what the best option is with mine .

      Thanks bud, If you mean the camera then no, didn't bother. It gets a ground from the stereo end (yellow RCA)

      Omg! That's horrendous. This method should work a treat if everything is new. The cables normally jam up. I need to get new cables for mine again. Probably go genuine toyota this time.

      Yes thats the only way you can connect to android auto. You have to run an extension of the unit. Normally comes with the stereo
